Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
8:35 pm
Goodreads summary : A mysterious
island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of curious photographs. A
horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote
island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss
Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned
bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just
peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a
deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they
may still be alive. A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting
vintage photography.
My thoughts: At the very beginning
it was scary. And I thought it was going to be so, because of the kind of
creepy pictures. But then it turned out to be not scary at all but no less
interesting. To be honest, the absence of the frightening side disappointed me
a little, but the plot made me read this book with pleasure. The plot itself is
not a difficult one, but it enthralls you completely. The idea and the
characters are so well-made, that I would love to read the second book “HollowCity”.
Your Lisa.
